Region IV Update: July 15, 2022

    Region IV Director: Dawn Schneider

I hope everyone is having a great SUMMER!!! I know I am! It definitely has been a hot one so far with a few breathers (down to 49 degrees last night and felt wonderful). My vegetable plants sure do enjoy the heat as long as I water them every day if no rain. Before you know it fall will be here.

The NSH Board of Directors is still planning on having our Symposium in Reno, NV October 14-19. We are planning on having a HYBRID meeting which means you can either attend in person or virtually. Some people cannot travel yet so we hope to have a good mixture of attendees whether in person or virtually. The room rates for Reno are very affordable which is to our advantage. We are working with the local people in Reno and plan on following the guidelines they recommend for COVID protocols. The Program Committee is doing good with the meeting planning. Sign in to NSH.org to register if you haven’t already. The House of Delegates will not be virtual this year, but must attend in person. The HOD will convene on Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 3:30 pm. We are in need of Delegates to sit in the House, so if you are interested, please contact your State Society Presidents. If you are interested in volunteering to help at the Convention, please log onto NSH.org to see volunteer opportunities. I know I am excited to get back to an in person meeting. Hope to see you in Reno!!!!

The results of the elections that were held in April are: President Elect-Joanna Barton, Region 1-Luis Chiriboga, Region IV-Dawn Schneider, Region VII-Andre Zamorano and Treasure-Liz Chlipala. Congratulations to the new and returning board members.

In June Sharon Kneebone, our Executive Director, left NSH for another opportunity. We were saddened by Sharon’s departure and recognize everything she had done to bring NSH to where we are today. We are excited to announce that NSH has named Aubrey Wanner as our new CEO, Executive Director. We are excited that Aubrey, who had been working as Deputy Director for several years, agreed to move into the position of Executive Director. Aubrey brings with her a wealth of knowledge of the intricate workings of NSH since she has been with us since 2005 and will do a great job in her new position. Please welcome Aubrey to her position if you get the chance.

For Education, Online Study Tools, Checklists and Reference Guides other than the NSH Symposium please check out www.NSH.org for information. They have a great line up scheduled for their Education Series.

As always, Please stay safe and healthy during these trying times. If you have any questions, please contact me at dawn.schneider2@aspirus.org (new email).
